Hi everyone, as the year is coming to an end, I thought I would review my favorite trends that have come out of 2022. A lot of these trends were featured in my “90s Trends Are Coming Back” post. Fashion goes in cycles. What was popular 30 years ago is now popular, and this will continue.
My favorite fashion trends
Bright colors
Listen, as a very pale girl; I am a big fan of this trend. Bright colors make you appear, tanner than you are, and who doesn't love being tan? Bold, bright colors are a statement.
2. Sweater vests
It is funny because, as kids, we used to make fun of Cody from Zack and Cody for wearing sweater vests, and now we hear we are wearing them, and they are trendy. I feel like sweater vests are the perfect way to sophisticate any look.
3. Matching sweat sets
This is definitely an early 2000s trend, but instead of the matching Juicy Couture sweatsuit, they've been upgraded. They also have been dressed up. Celebs have been wearing sweatsuits with a blazer over them or a leather jacket. Paired with some nice chunky jewelry, too, really elevates the look.
4. Knee-high boots
We have seen them all year long. Cowboy boots were the spring/summer essential, and now, hitting the colder months, a chunky knee-high boot is all the rage. Steve Madden, especially has really taken this trend and run with it. Knee-high boots help create the illusion that your legs are longer and slimmer than they really are.
5. Wide leg pants
Skinny jeans are out, and wide/straight are in, and truthfully, I am a big fan. A lot of popular trends have to do with comfort, especially after being home for at least a year due to Covid. Straight and wide-leg pants have really gained popularity because they are more comfortable than the average skinny jean, and they are versatile and extremely wearable.
6. Miniskirts
This trend comes right along with the lowrise trend. This trend is a favorite because of the nostalgia it gives.
7. Platforms
You probably already heard this in my 90s trends post, but I think almost every shoe designer is turning every shoe into a platform. Loafers, sandals, heels, boots, sneakers, you name it.

8. White tank & blue jeans
This is a timeless all-American look that truly will never go out of style. This combo is effortless yet put together.
Looking into 2023, I think some of these trends are likely to stay awhile, like the wide-leg pant and platform shoes. I think the mini skirts/ low rise are going to make their way out.
Either way, I cannot wait to see what is coming in the year ahead!

Xoxox, Annalynn
